Cookie Policy
Properties Haven Ltd ("Haven", "we", "us") uses a small, fully documented set of cookies and browser storage on propertieshaven.com. This policy lists every item, what it does, how long it lasts, and how to manage it. The short version: essential storage keeps you signed in, one anonymous identifier powers analytics, there are no advertising cookies, and we never track you across other websites.
1. What this policy covers
Cookies are small text files a website places on your device. Haven actually relies mostly on browser storage — localStorage (which persists until cleared) and sessionStorage (which is wiped when the tab closes) — plus a small number of cookies set by the third-party services described below. Nigerian data-protection rules (the NDPA 2023 and the GAID 2025) treat all of these tracking technologies the same way, and so does this policy: we call them all "storage" and list every one of them. This policy should be read with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data generally.
2. How Haven uses storage
We use storage for three things: keeping you signed in and secure (essential), remembering small preferences like your recently viewed listings (functional), and understanding how the platform is used so we can improve it (analytics). Just as important is what we don't do: Haven sets no advertising cookies, does not track you across other websites, does not let third parties profile you for advertising, and does not sell data collected through storage. There are no hidden pixels or fingerprinting scripts.
3. Storage Haven sets (first party)
Essential — the platform cannot work without these: • token (localStorage) — your signed-in session token. Set when you sign in; removed when you sign out. • user (localStorage) — a cached copy of your basic profile so pages load instantly. Set at sign-in; removed at sign-out. Functional — small conveniences, no personal identifiers beyond your own device: • haven:recently-viewed (localStorage) — the listings you recently opened, so we can show them back to you. Stays until you clear it; signed-in users can also clear it from their dashboard. • haven:track:intent (sessionStorage) — your most recent search filters, kept for up to 30 minutes so a listing view can be connected to the search that led to it. Dies with the tab. Analytics: • haven:track:sid (localStorage) — a random, anonymous identifier (it contains nothing about you) used to count unique views and de-duplicate events. Stays until you clear your browser storage. Signed-in staff accounts use two additional entries (admin-preview, haven_impersonation) that never apply to regular users.
4. Analytics
Haven measures usage in two ways. First-party events — views, searches, and inquiry actions are sent to our own servers with the anonymous session identifier above. Listers see only aggregated results (for example, "42 people viewed this listing this week"), never who you are. Your approximate location (country, region, city) is derived from network headers when an event is recorded. Product analytics — we also use a product-analytics service to understand feature usage. It stores its own identifier in a cookie and localStorage (lasting up to one year) and records page views and product events. We configure it conservatively: automatic click-tracking is off, personal fields (names, emails, phone numbers, messages) are stripped from events before they are sent, and session recordings are off by default — if we ever enable them for debugging, all typed input is masked. This service processes data in the United States under contractual safeguards, as described in section 7 of our Privacy Policy.
5. Third-party cookies
A few features are delivered by third parties, and those providers may set their own cookies when the feature loads: • Google Sign-In — if you choose to sign in with Google, Google's sign-in service loads and may set cookies under google.com, governed by Google's own privacy policy. • Google Maps — listing maps, satellite views, and the embedded maps on area guides are served by Google, which may set cookies when a map loads. • Our product-analytics service — as described in section 4. These providers act under their own policies for the cookies they set; we choose and configure them carefully and do not share your Haven account data with them for advertising. Pages without these features set no third-party cookies at all.
6. Managing and blocking storage
Your browser gives you full control: you can view, block, and delete cookies and site storage for propertieshaven.com in your browser's privacy settings, use content blockers to stop analytics scripts loading, and clear everything at any time. Signing out removes your session token and cached profile immediately. Two honest caveats. Blocking or clearing the essential entries (token, user) signs you out and stops sign-in from working. And clearing the anonymous analytics identifier simply issues a new one on your next visit — it never reconnects to the old one. If you would like us to delete analytics events associated with your anonymous identifier or your account, email support@propertieshaven.com and we will treat it as a deletion request under the NDPA.
7. Your rights
Data collected through cookies and storage is personal data, so every right in section 10 of our Privacy Policy applies to it: access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent, and portability. Exercising them is free — email support@propertieshaven.com and we will respond without unreasonable delay, within 30 days at the latest. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) at ndpc.gov.ng.
8. Changes to this policy
If we add, remove, or change any storage or analytics tool, we will update the inventory in this policy and the "Last updated" date above before the change ships, and give clear notice on the platform for significant changes — for example, introducing any new category of tracking.
